Nicky Bolland

Nick Bolland is a ceramicist, printmaker and community arts practitioner living in Perthshire. Nicky creates hand-built ceramic pieces and prints with bold, detailed designs. Alongside her visual arts practice she is a mother to 2 children, a community worker with a local charity and an outdoor play worker. “Whilst I have had a creative practice all my adult life, it was on moving to Perthshire and beginning to work explicitly with clay and print as mediums that I have dedicated significant energy to my personal practice. Prior to this much of my creative work has been in collaboration with communities, in Scotland and abroad.

These roles, alongside my wider community work & playworker roles have given me the chance to develop strong skills in communication and collaborative storytelling as well as planning and implementing projects with a range of partners/participants. Whilst much of my visible personal practice in recent years has been centred around the natural world, I have a strong desire to more explicitly and actively weave my own identity and stories as a mother, a carer and an activist/educator into my creative practice.”
