Chemigram 2b

Photographic paper, previously used and exhausted darkroom chemistry, cut paper, oil and salt. Framed giclee reproduction, 84 x 59 cm.

£290

This is a large-scale giclee reproduction of a hand-made unique chemigram, created using expired and mouldy photographic paper. Made in broad daylight using previously used and exhausted darkroom chemicals and a variety of resists. What I love about chemigrams is that you really never know how they're going to look, there are infinite variables. I submit myself to the process, to the lack of control.

The reason I have chosen to show this as a giclee reproduction is for 2 reasons. Firstly, I enjoy making them very small and then enlarging them to see the textural details. Secondly, because of the nature of how you're using the darkroom chemistry, they're not necessarily archival or stable so I prefer to scan them straight away as the original will change over time.
