Kowloon Union Church
Oil on canvas, 40 x 50 cm.
£750
Kowloon Union Church is part of a series of work titled 'Capturing Transience', exploring my connection to my family, in this case my maternal grandparents. Working from photographs taken at my grandparents wedding, the paintings are about the desire and impossibility of connecting to people who are no longer alive and the bittersweet experience of the passage of time.
This work is of my grandmother's bridesmaid and flower girl. I know nothing about them beyond the photos, not even their names, and have no way of finding out which makes me both sad and intrigued in equal measure.
